Storied Disappearing Dumont Donkey Is Hero Mascot At Builder's New Ice Cream Shop
It was 2017 and Matt Dagistanli was in the process of building the structure that stands today at 65 W. Madison Avenue in Dumont, when his donkey went missing. He wasn't a real donkey, of course, but a statue that Dagistanli and his former business partner had affectionately called Dumbo. Dagistanli grew quite fond of Dumbo, and wasn't ready to get rid of him at the turn of his career change. : Dogs Die In New Milford House Fire
Two dogs were killed in a New Milford house fire early Tuesday night, authorities said. The residents weren't home when the blaze broke out in the kitchen at the back of the Voorhis Avenue home and quickly spread shortly after 7 p.m., New Milford Police Chief Brian Clancy said. Borough firefighters were immediately joined by their colleagues from Oradell and River Edge, with New Milford Fire Chief Gerry Smithson operating as the scene commander, the chief said. Dumont Mom Jailed For Abusing Kid: Prosecutor
A 46-year-old Dumont woman was jailed for physically abusing one of her children, authorities said. Stacey A. Wilmarth was arrested by Dumont police on Monday, June 3, in connection with allegations from a week earlier, records show. Detectives from Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella’s Special Victims Unit subsequently charged Wilmarth with aggravated assault and child endangerment. Chemical Extinguisher Helps At Northvale Machine Shop Fire
Firefighters used a high-volume dry chemical extinguisher to help with a machine shop blaze in Northvale. The Livingston Street fire ignited shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, May 16. The Paramus Fire Department’s Foam Unit provided a significant assist extinguishing flames on aluminum shavings that were placed in metal barrels and brought outside.
