So Ex-con Antoine Hawkins, 31, of Newark, took a deal from the government and was formally sentenced to 12 years in federal prison on Friday, May 31, for shooting two victims five days apart in the Brick City in August 2020. π¨π£πππ§π: Two deputy U.S. Marshals were justified in shooting a fugitive murderer from Florida who came at them with a hatchet when they tracked him down in Jersey City, a New Jersey grand jury has ruled. Esteban DeJesus, Jr., 56, of Orlando was wanted for shooting and killing his 67-year-old next-door neighbor and wounding her husband the day before the deputy marshals found him. Three Shot In Paterson, Two From Out Of State
A Paterson man and two out-of-towners were wounded in an overnight shooting as the holiday weekend began. The trio was struck in the area of East 30th Street and 18th Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, May 25, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announced jointly. All three men arrived at St. Josephβs University Medical Center in private vehicles β a 35-year-old city man and a Queens resident, 25, in one car and a 31-year-old victim described only as from New York in another, they said.
