Nicotine Poisonings Surge Among Babies, Young Kids: Study
Poisonings among young children have risen sharply as products like nicotine pouches and vaping liquids become more popular, according to a new study. US poison control centers received 134,663 reports of kids six years old and younger ingesting nicotine from 2010 through 2023, according to the study published by the American Academy of Pediatrics on Monday, July 14. Undercover Operation Busts NJ Smoke Shop Worker Selling Vapes To Underage Customers: Cops
A 24-year-old Passaic County smoke shop employee was arrested after he sold a flavored vape e-cigarette to an officer who was under 21 years old, local police said. Prospect Park police had gotten several complaints regarding activities at Moe's Smoke Shop on North 6th Street, particularly selling restricted products to underage customers, they said in a press release. A 26-year-old New Jersey man who asked a flight attendant for sex and tried to open the aircraft's doors multiple times has been indicted by a federal grand jury, authorities said. Eric Nicholas Gapco, of Delanco, a passenger onboard American Airlines flight #2101, assaulted and intimidated a flight attendant and aircraft crew members on July 18, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The flight originated in Seattle en route to Dallas but was diverted to Salt Lake City where law enforcement arrested him. This NJ Health Department Is Paying Teens To Star In Drug, Vaping PSAs
The Ocean County Health Department is casting teenagers for drug and vaping public service announcements. The OCHD is casting a diverse group of teens ages 14 to 18 to act in "substance use" and vaping prevention PSAs, the casting call says. A total of 19 actors are needed for both speaking and background roles, with multiple PSAs to shoot. Casting directors say the shoot will take place during the week so must be able to take off one day of school. The roles pay between $200 and $600 for one day of work. Click here to apply.
