A man who had been wanted out of New Jersey on child abuse charges was arrested in a New York traffic stop last week, when authorities found him with police uniforms and handcuffs, they said. Charges will not be filed against a police officer who last November struck and killed a 44-year-old man while on-duty in a patrol car, authorities said. Sgt. Dump Truck Overturns In Sussex County, Driver Hospitalized: Fire Department
A person was hospitalized after they were trapped in an overturned dump truck Sussex County on Tuesday, Aug. 6, authorities said. At 3:02 p.m., first responders were dispatched to Route 15 southbound in Sparta Township and found a dump truck overturned with a driver trapped, the Sparta Township Fire Department said. Sparta Township Fire Department The driver was out of the truck by the time first responders arrived and was treated and transported to a nearby hospital, firefighters said. Firefighters worked to secure the scene and eventually up righted the truck, authorities said.

Several sharks have been spotted off the coast of Cape May in recent weeks, according to reports. A shark was spotted near the beach in Cape May Point at around 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, 6abc Action News reported. One beachgoer said the shark was about six feet long. Authorities have identified the Old Bridge man who drowned when his kayak capsized in Jackson Township. A 25-year-old woman was hospitalized after being bitten by a snake in Hunterdon County on Wednesday, July 24, authorities said. At 9:59 a.m., police responded to a report of an animal bite at a residence on County Road 519 in Kingwood Township, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Police found a 25-year-old woman who had sustained minor injuries from a snake bite and she was transported to an area hospital, Lebron said. The incident remains under investigation, Lebron said. Harmful Algae Bloom Halts Paddle Boating In Somerset County Park
Paddle boating has been put on hold due to the presence of harmful age blooms in a Somerset County park, authorities said. The Somerset County Park Commission said paddle boats are closed until further notice at Powder Mill Pond in Colonial Park. Exposure to harmful algae blooms can cause various illnesses including vomiting, diarrhea, confusion, seizures, permanent short term memory loss, or death, when consumed at high levels, according to the National Institute of Environmental Health Science.
