A small black bear was sighted on Thursday morning, June 20 in West Windsor. The sighting occurred on Village Road West near the Mercer Oaks Golf Course, West Windsor police said. Bear sightings can be reported to the New Jersey Department of Fish & Wildlife at 877-927-6337.

A 56-year-old man was arrested after a six-hour police standoff Monday, June 17 in South Jersey, police said. Officers were called to a home on the first block of Brookfield Avenue in Evesham around 2:25 a.m., where a 911 caller reported an argument with an armed man, Evesham police said. A man barricaded with firearms and discharging the weapons brought a heavy police presence to a home in Evesham Monday morning, June 17. He was taken into custody by 9 a.m., Evesham police said; Officers were at a home on Brookfield Drive as of 7:30 a.m. and all residents near the home were being sheltered in place. Authorities have released additional information in the double shooting Wednesday, June 12 in Carteret. Two females were found having suffered gunshot wounds on Roosevelt Avenue around 9 a.m., and were airlifted to area hospitals, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden said. As of 2:30 p.m., one victim had died and the other remains critical, Ciccone and McFadden said. A 38-year-old ex-convict was arrested with a loaded assault rifle slung over his shoulder, authorities said. A 39-year-old woman was injured when a deactivated grenade exploded in Mercer County, authorities said.
