A 31-year-old farmworker died of an apparent drowning at Sunset Lake in Bridgeton on Sunday evening, July 21, authorities said. Marco Lemus-Giron of Hopewell Township, went swimming about 45 minutes after lifeguards had left the beach which closed for the day at 6 p.m., Bridgeton police said. Part of Route 73 in Evesham was closed after police received a report of a bomb placed at an unidentified business, authorities said. There was an "active police investigation" Thursday morning, June 27 in Glassboro, authorities said. Their investigation was in the area of Route 322 West and Delsea Drive. Residents were asked to avoid the area at about 9 a.m. until the alert was lifted shortly before noon. "The area is now clear and open to travel, there is no active threat to the public. A police officer from South Jersey is credited with saving the life of a resident during a recent fire. The fire broke out at about 4 p.m. on June 16 on the 1800 block of Sagemore Drive in Evesham.
