Reports Of Jumper Close George Washington Bridge (Developing) A portion of the George Washington Bridge was closed Tuesday night, Sept. 24 due to reports of a jumper, officials said. A spokesperson for the Port Authority Police Department confirmed the investigation but not have any further information as of 7:40 p.m. The NJDOT site said only that all lower level lanes along the westbound ramp were closed as of 7 p.m.  Delays of up to 20 minutes were being reported as of 7:40 p.m.

The 19-year-old driver fled from a traffic stop by officers from the NYPD's 52nd Precinct in the Bronx shortly before 1:30 a.m. June 9, they said. Port Authority police later charged 39-year-old Chukwuebu D Emegoakor with kidnapping, criminal restraint, false imprisonment, terroristic threats and other offenses.
