Teen Struck By Boat Propeller Airlifted After Saved By Off-Duty Officer On Greenwood Lake
An off-duty police officer came to the aid of an 18-year-old man who was struck by a boat propeller on Greenwood Lake last month. Vernon Cpl. Steve Rovetto was on the lake in West Milford when he saw that the man had been struck around 6 p.m. June 20, and called 9-1-1, West Milford Police Capt. Parrello said. Rovetto went over to the victim, improvised a tourniquet out of rope, and then accompanied him by boat to the South Shore Marina. At the marina, they were met by West Milford Sgt. NJ Mom Killed By Falling Tree While Camping With Family In Furious Upstate NY Storm
A New Jersey woman was killed in upstate New York over the weekend when a tree fell on her camper during fierce thunderstorms that ripped through the region, authorities said. At about 10:50 a.m. the Delaware County 911 Center received multiple reports of trees down on campers at multiple locations with an individual trapped at the Russell Brook Campground in the Town of Colchester. An early-morning crash involving a box truck brought a large emergency response to Route 80 in Bergen County Friday, June 21. Firefighters were called to the westbound lanes at milepost 65.5 just after 3:20 a.m., where a Mercedes Benz had rear-ended a box truck, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron. An occupant was ejected when one SUV hit a house and another a utility pole in a fierce collision in Maywood, authorities said. One of the vehicles was knocked onto its side in the crash at the corner of East Passaic and Elm streets around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16. Jet Skier Injured On Hudson
A jet skier required medical attention following a weekend accident on the Hudson River. The victim was brought to shore at Bloomers Beach near the northern boat basin near Henry Hudson Drive in Palisades Interstate Park in Englewood Cliffs around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 16, responders said.
