Man Killed While Walking Across Route 9 In Central Jersey, Prosecutors Say
A man was hit by a vehicle and killed while crossing a busy road in Freehold Township, authorities said. The crash happened at around 8:56 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, a spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said. The wreck was at the intersection of Route 9 North and East Freehold Road. A 56-year-old man died in the crash. The Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team and the Freehold Township Police Department were assisting in the investigation. Thief Broke Into Several Businesses, Vehicles In Central Jersey, Police Say
An Old Bridge man was accused of breaking into several businesses and vehicles in Aberdeen, authorities said. Johnathan Ruck II was charged with several burglary and theft offenses, the Aberdeen Township Police Department said in a news release on Monday, Aug. 12. Investigators said Ruck broke into several businesses and vehicles on Route 35 late at night on Wednesday, Aug. 7, and early on Thursday, Aug. 8. Man Wrote Bad Checks To Steal Vehicle From Central Jersey Dealership, Police Say
A Toms River man was accused of using bad checks to steal a vehicle from a Monmouth County dealership, authorities said. Robert Poelstra, 74, was facing two third-degree charges including theft by deception, the Hazlet Police Department said in a news release on Thursday, July 11. A Hazlet detective received "a crucial lead" in the investigation and conducted a stakeout outside an unnamed medical center in Ocean County. Poelstra was arrested there on Wednesday, July 10. Driver Cited, Hospitalized After Vehicle Overturns: Montgomery PD
A 55-year-old Philadelphia resident was cited for careless driving after his vehicle overturned in Montgomery on Monday, June 24, authorities said. At 6:39 a.m., first responders were on scene at Spring Hill Road after a 2020 Toyota Highlander overturned, Montgomery police said in a release. The driver was traveling north on Spring Hill Road when he failed to maintain the lane of travel, driving off the roadway, police said. Woman Charged With DWI After NJ Transit Train Hits Empty Vehicle In Central Jersey
A Long Branch woman was accused of driving while intoxicated after an empty vehicle was struck by a New Jersey Transit train, authorities said. North Jersey Coast Line train No. 4384 hit an unoccupied vehicle in Long Branch at around 8:59 p.m. on Monday, June 3, an NJ Transit spokesperson said.
