15-Year-Old Arrested For Jersey City Shootings: Police
A 15-year-old was arrested and charged following two shootings in Jersey City, authorities announced Wednesday, Feb. 11.
At 11:19 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, officers responded after shots were fired at Van Nostrand and Ocean Avenues, Jersey City police said. No injuries were reported, police said.
At midnight on Thursday, Nov. 6, officers responded to another confirmed shots fired incident in the area of 102-106 Rutgers Avenue, police said. While no injuries were reported, several parked vehicles sustained bullet damage, police said.

Two people were arrested in Kearny and charged with possessing multiple weapons last week, authorities said.
On Wednesday, Jan. 14, officers were made aware of a BMW entering Kearny that had been flagged for its possible involvement in a shooting in Irvington, Kearny police said. The vehicle was found parked near Passaic Avenue and officers began surveillance, police said.

The fatal shooting of an Aliquippa High School senior by a federal agent has been ruled justified, Beaver County District Attorney Nate Bible announced during a press conference on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The 18-year-old Kendric Curtis fired two rounds from a stolen handgun into an unmarked SUV carrying undercover ATF, FBI, and local task force officers on Waugaman Street at the Linmar Terrace apartment complex, DA Bible said. An ATF agent returned fire once, striking Curtis in the head.

Jimmy Mercedes, 41, was found guilty Thursday, Aug. 21, of murder and multiple weapons charges in the May 5, 2024 killing of 62-year-old Daryle Robinson Sr., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.

A pit bull was fatally shot after biting a police officer in Elizabeth on Monday, Aug. 18, authorities said.
At 11:40 a.m., emergency services units were at the 1000 block of Olive Street in search of a robbery suspect, a spokesperson for the City of Elizabeth said. An officer went to the backyard of a residence in case the suspect appeared, authorities said.

Gunman Dies By Suicide After Shooting Woman In Linden, Cops Say
A woman is in critical condition and the suspect is dead following a shooting in Linden on Monday, Aug. 18, authorities said.
At 10:15 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Carnegie Street and located a woman with a gunshot wound, Linden police said. The suspect fled from the scene and barricaded himself inside of a nearby home, police said.
Officers made entry to the house and located the suspect, deceased, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
