New York Resident Sexually Assaulted 11-Year-Old In Jersey City: Prosecutor
An 18-year-old New York man was arrested and charged on Tuesday, Dec. 3, with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Jersey City, authorities said. Sergio Lokhanova-Flores met the victim online in February 2024, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The crimes occurred on various dates between March and July 2024 when the victim was 11 and 12 years old, Suarez said. Lokhanova-Flores was arrested in Brooklyn and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey, Suarez said. He was charged with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.

A Jersey Shore assemblyman's car was stolen by thieves in Hazlet, authorities said. Assemblyman Paul Kanitra, R-Brick Township, said in a Facebook post that his car was taken from his mother-in-law's house in Hazlet just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9. A 25-year-old New York woman has been named "Fugitive of the Month" in one New Jersey county. Angely Betancourt has been charged with reckless death by auto and causing death while driving unlicensed in the July 4, 2022 crash that left one person dead on Route 287 southbound access ramp to Route 78 west in Bedminster, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said. A would-be George Washington Bridge jumper was hospitalized Tuesday night, Sept. 24, after bringing traffic along the bridge to a halt, authorities said. A spokesperson for the Port Authority Police Department confirmed the investigation but not have any further information as of 7:40 p.m. Wednesday morning, a spokesperson said that the incident was reported at 5:42 p.m. near the 179th Street ramp in the westbound lanes. All lanes along the ramp were closed. The man was removed and taken to a local hospital, the PAPD said. Traffic resumed at 7:24 p.m.
