Newark Appoints New Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda was named the City of Newark's Director of Public Safety on Tuesday, Nov. 12, following the resignation of Fritz Fragé, Mayor Ras Baraka announced. Baracka also named Sharonda Morris as the new police chief and Leonardo Carillo as the new deputy director of police operations. Missing Man Found Dead At Popular NJ Hiking Spot, Police Say The search for a missing man ended in tragedy on Friday, June 7, when police found he'd died by suicide in a popular New Jersey hiking area. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the Sourland Mountain Preserve around 3:05 p.m. after Somerset County dispatch was notified by Princeton police that a man had gone missing, Hillsborough Police Sgt.
