Jersey City Man Stole $18K In Wine, Cash From Middlesex Restaurant: Police
A 34-year-old Jersey City man was arrested and charged with stealing $18,000 worth of wine and cash from a restaurant in Middlesex, authorities announced Thursday, Oct. 30.
At 4:20 a.m., on Wednesday, July 23, officers responded to Tim Kerwin's Tavern at 353 Bound Brook Rd. after Dashawn Durant gained entry to the restaurant through a kitchen window, Middlesex Borough police said.
Durant appeared to be startled when an audible alarm activated, police said. Durant then fled the scene without taking any property, police said.

A Jersey City teacher accused of sex crimes against multiple students has been convicted of sexually assaulting one, authorities said Monday, Sept. 22.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, a jury found Apparao Sunkara, 72, of Hicksville, NY, guilty of sexual assault by contact, endangering the welfare of a child, and official misconduct — all second-degree crimes, Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said.

A 25-year-old Massachusetts resident was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography in Hoboken, authorities announced Friday, Sept. 12.
An investigation into Tyler Wright began in August 2024 after receiving a tip that child pornography was found on their computer, Hoboken police said. Wright was living in Massachusetts after moving out of Hoboken, police said.
Detectives discovered more than 3,800 items containing child pornography on Wright’s computer, police said.
