A fast-moving fire tore through a Jersey City apartment building on Wednesday, Nov. 19, displacing 30 residents and sending two people and one firefighter to the hospital, authorities said. Birthday Party Fire Kills 2 Girls In Newark (

The bodies of two severely burned girls ages 6 and 8 were found at a Newark home following a fire over the weekend, officials said. Witnesses told detectives that there had been a birthday party for one of the girls on the second floor of the home and they'd been playing with fire near a couch in the hallway of the Eckert Street home on Saturday, Oct. 20, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. A three-alarm fire in East Orange caused 11 people to be evacuated on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 7, authorities said. Firefighters responded to 291 Glenwood Ave. at 4:30 p.m. and the fire escalated to three alarms, necessitating additional firefighters to the scene, a spokesperson for the City of East Orange said. 18 Displaced By East Orange Fire, Officials Say
A fire ripped through a three-family home in East Orange on the early morning of Saturday, June 29, displacing 18 people, authorities said. At 5:23 a.m., firefighters in East Orange responded to the blaze at 135 Greenwood Avenue and were able to bring the fire under control 30 minutes later, a spokeswoman for the city said. Three families, comprised of 18 people, were able to escape the fire with no injuries, authorities said. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families as the home was deemed inhabitable, authorities said.

Firefighters Battle 3-Alarm Blaze In Middlesex County
Two homes were heavily damaged by a three-alarm fire that started in a garage in Middlesex Borough, authorities said. On Friday, June 14, at 2:40 a.m., the Middlesex Borough Police Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 832 West Second Street. Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that a garage was fully engulfed in flames.
