The body of Connor Oldfield, who was reported missing on Saturday, Jan. 24, was found in the Green Brook near the Roosevelt Avenue bridge, according to the City of Plainfield and the Plainfield Police Department.
“This is a heartbreaking loss felt across our entire community, and we extend our deepest condolences to Connor’s family, loved ones, friends, classmates, and all who have been praying for his safe return,” Mayor Adrian O. Mapp and Plainfield Police Director James T. Abney said.
"This is not the outcome any of us wanted, and it is a loss that will be felt throughout Plainfield," the mayor said. "We grieve with Connor Oldfield’s family and loved ones, and we ask the entire community to hold them close in compassion, prayer, and quiet support. In moments like this, our city must be at its best, surrounding a grieving family with dignity, respect, and love, and giving them the space they need to mourn."
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
