Pedestrian Seriously Injured Improperly Crossing Black Horse Pike: EHT PD
A 20-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after they were struck by a vehicle in Egg Harbor Township Saturday, Aug. 1, authorities said. At 8:58 p.m., officers responded to the Black Horse Pike and Fire Road after an 80-year-old Williamstown man driving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound struck a pedestrian, a Mays Landing man, improperly crossing the street, Egg Harbor Township police said. The man sustained serious bodily injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, police said. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.

A 23-year-old East Orange man was charged with murdering an inmate at the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in Chesterfield, authorities said Friday, July 31. On Friday, July 17, correctional officers found Yasin Sellers slumped on the floor and unresponsive in a prison gymnasium following a religious service, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia Bradshaw said. A 28-year-old Pleasantville man was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering his pregnant girlfriend with a bat on Friday, July 31. On Monday, Dec. 2, Boris Lainz-Rosales beat his girlfriend, Leslianette Quintana-Betancourt, a 25-year-old Pleasantville resident to death with a baseball bat, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said. Quintana-Betancourt was pregnant at the time, authorities said. Lainz-Rosales pleaded guilty to murder in the first degree, authorities said.
