The Little Falls officer was experiencing a medical episode while driving around 1:05 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, the department said. The officer’s marked patrol vehicle veered off Main Street and struck the building of a local business.

The officer was not responding to any calls or engaged in any law enforcement actions at the time of the crash.

The officer, whose identity has not been released, was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson for treatment. He is still receiving care, and the Little Falls Police Department is urging the community to keep the officer, his family, and the department in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.

The Little Falls Police Department’s Investigation and Services Division is conducting a thorough investigation into the crash.
