Swimmer, 23, Still Missing After Search Off Seaside Heights
A 23-year-old swimmer remained missing Saturday, June 6, more than a day after disappearing in the water off the Jersey Shore. The U.S. Coast Guard received a report at approximately 1:57 p.m. Friday, June 5, of a person in the water about 100 yards offshore of Seaside Heights, a spokesperson for the agency said. A 47-foot Motor Lifeboat from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light and a helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City were dispatched to the scene, according to the Coast Guard. A 55-year-old Cedar Lake man has been identified after his kayak flipped over on a New Jersey lake Wednesday night, April 23, authorities said. At 8:23 p.m., emergency responders arrived at Cedar Lake in Denville on a report of a man, later identified as Ronnie McLeod, who “flipped over and did not resurface,” the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.
