ID Of Tow Truck Operator Killed By Passing Car On Route 19 Released
A tow truck operator was killed by a passing vehicle on Route 19 over the weekend, authorities said. Manuel Perez, 64, was trying to hook another vehicle to his truck on the southbound side of the highway when he was struck by a Toyota sedan that then struck the tow truck and overturned around 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at milepost 2-3, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. Perez was pronounced dead and the driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This investigation is active and ongoing. NJ Soccer Captain Suffered Broken Neck, Ribs In Crash, Campaign Says
Support is on the rise for an 18-year-old North Jersey high school soccer captain who sustained multiple broken bones in a crash last month. Molly Mack, the captain of the Whippany High School girls team, was identified by the team's booster club as the person seriously injured in the Sunday, Oct. 27 crash between two SUVs on Route 24 in Florham Park, as previously reported by Daily Voice. Man, 34, Struck By Car On Route 3 Had Gotten Out Of Vehicle After Crash: Police
A man was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle on Route 3 Thursday morning, Oct. 31, police said. Police said that the 34-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle that had just been involved in a single-vehicle crash when he got out and proceeded to walk along the highway around 10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of East Rutherford. That's when the man was struck by a vehicle eastbound. The victim suffered leg and back injuries and was taken to Hackensack Medical Center. The highway was reopened around 10:50 a.m.

Freak Accident Kills Boy, 12, Playing In NJ Backyard: Police
A New Jersey boy was killed when a tree fell on him in a backyard, authorities said. Lucas Schwartz, 12, was identified as the victim of the Eldridge Avenue incident in Lawrence Township on a GoFundMe page. Police said he'd been playing with a friend in the backyard of a home when gusty winds blew the tree over, and it fell onto him around 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. A 46-year-old Pennsylvania man was rescued after he fell 25 feet from the roof of a building in Fairfield, NJ on Friday, Sept. 20, authorities said (scroll for video). Pedestrian Struck, Seriously Injured On Garden State Parkway
A pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a camper on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. The Ford E350 Camper was heading south when it struck the unidentified pedestrian walking in the roadway at milepost 145.2 in Irvington around 8:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.
