Landing Gear Fails Mid-Flight, Plane Skids Off Runway At NJ Airport
A plane carrying two people skidded off the runway at the Essex County Airport on Wednesday evening, Nov. 6 after its landing gear failed, Fairfield police said.
The flight began at Essex County Airport but was cut short about six miles out when the pilot noticed electrical issues, Fairfield Police Chief Anthony Manna said.
The pilot, a 58-year-old Weehawken man, immediately turned back toward the airport, but due to the electrical malfunction, the landing gear failed to deploy, causing the plane to skid off the runway upon landing around 5:35 p.m., according to Manna.

Noriega Nominated For NJ Supreme Court
Michael Noriega, a Union County resident, has been nominated to be the newest justice on the New Jersey Supreme Court.
Gov. Phil Murphy formally announced Noriega's nomination on Monday, May 15. Noriega, who was born in Weehawken, will be replacing Justice Barry Albin, who reached the mandatory retirement age. Noriega, who was raised in Union City and lives in Fanwood, is Murphy's fourth appointment to the bench.

Shoe Salesman Turned Internist Wrote Himself Bogus Scripts For Years, NJ Authorities Charge
Sagy Grinberg could’ve been a modern-day success story. A former shoe salesman, he went to medical school in the West Indies, got married on top of Mt. Carmel and took a prized residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark.

5.5 Pounds Of Coke Seized In Undercover Hudson County Drug Bust: Prosecutor
Nearly 5.5 pounds of cocaine was seized from three men in an undercover Hudson County drug bust, authorities said.
Nicolas Mora-Daza, 24, of Union City, Christopher Gonzalez, 33 of Union City and John Perez, 31, of Weehawken, sold cocaine to an undercover officer multiple times over the course of a month, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
Nearly $125,000 worth of cocaine was seized from the trio as a result of a search warrant at a Weehawken home, Suarez said.

A funeral is scheduled this Friday, March 18, for a Hudson County firefighter who died suddenly last week.
Terence “Terry” Shevlin, 44, followed in the footsteps of his father, the late Edward Flood, in becoming a career firefighter.
The lifelong Weehawken resident joined North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue in September 2007.

Hudson County Man Enticed Minors To Send Him Homemade Porn Pics, Video, FBI Charges
A Hudson County man was arrested by the FBI after he enticed two underage children to create and send him porn photos and videos of themselves, federal authorities charged.
Erick Solis, 25, "used a social media application to engage with two underage victims in sexually explicit conversations," U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said Thursday.
He then "instructed both victims to take sexually explicit photographs and videos of themselves and send them to him," Sellinger said.
