: Report Of Child In Car Trunk Was More Or Less True, Police In Bergen Find
𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: An eyewitness report of a child climbing into the trunk of a woman's car over the weekend in the Pascack Valley area of Bergen County was at least partially true, it turns out. It wasn't an 8-to-10-year-old child who got into the trunk of a sedan on a Washington Township street with the assistance of a woman in her mid-30s, as the "witness" reported. It was a couple of teenagers. The mystery was solved by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office using automated license-plate readers and township police. A man's claim that he saw a child climb into the trunk of a woman's car in the Pascack Valley section of Bergen County sparked an intense but fruitless area search, police said. The citizen told Washington Township police that he saw a white woman who appeared to be in her mid-30s get out of a dark red or maroon Toyota sedan in the 600 block of Chestnut Street around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, Corporal Christopher Osenbruck said. An 80-year-old Maywood patient and an ambulette driver were hospitalized following a collision with a pickup truck in Washington Township, authorities said. The Metro Ambulance out of Hackensack was headed east on Washington Avenue when it collided with the westbound Nissan Frontier at Meisten Street near Seasons restaurant and catering hall shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday, township police Lt. A Hudson County driver who didn’t have a license, registration or insurance got out of her SUV and bolted following a predawn crash in Washington Township, authorities said. Jeep Splits Pole, Driver Walks Away Without Scratch In Washington Township
A local business owner escaped injury on Saturday when his Jeep slammed into a utility pole in Washington Township, authorities said. The impact of the crash split the pole and took down a pedestrian crossing sign at Colonial Boulevard and Washington Avenue. The 60-something driver may have misjudged the turn, responders said. There were no suspicious contributing factors, Police Chief Richard Skinner said.
