Reputed JC Gang Member Shot Last Year Charged With Firing At Five Rivals
Two reputed Jersey City gang members shot five people in retaliation for the murder of an associate several years earlier, federal authorities in Newark charged.
One of them, Jalil “Broadday” Holmes, 20, of East Orange, is already charged with shooting at a vehicle in Jersey City, wounding two men, before he was shot in the Newport Centre mall food court in January 2019.
In the new case, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said that Holmes and Jidon Rogers, 37, of Jersey City went with two other men to Lexington Avenue looking to shoot rivals on June 30, 2018.

Slain veteran Jersey City Police Detective Joseph Seals likely prevented dozens of other deaths that day, authorities said Monday.
Seals, 40, of Lyndhurst, was investigating the death of a livery driver in Bayonne when David Anderson, 47, and Francine Graham, 50, shot him in the Bayview Cemetery just before 12:30 p.m. Dec. 10, and drove off, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.
They were killed in a gunfight with police, but not after killing three other people.

Former Newark Officer Admits Taking Nearly $100K In Bribes From Brothel Owners
A former Newark police officer admitted he took more than $100,000 in bribes from brothel owners as protection money, authorities said.
Julio I. Rivera, 50, of Old Bridge, pleaded guilty to two counts of a 14-count indictment, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.
A brothel owner on Emmet and Lafayette streets in Newark gave cash to Rivera, who in exchange protected the establishments and others from police, according to an indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Newark.
The officer accepted between $40,000 and $95,000 from the owner, authorities said.
