Driver, 27, Extricated After Multi-Vehicle Garden State Parkway Pileup
UPDATE: A driver had to be extricated following a pre-dawn multi-vehicle pileup Saturday on the rainy Garden State Parkway in Clifton. The 27-year-old victim was taken to the trauma unit at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson after his Nissan Sentra overturned in the five-vehicle, chain-reaction crash near Exit 153B around 4:50 a.m. There was no immediate word on other injuries, although his appeared the most serious. Bystander Wounded In Paterson Shooting
A driver was wounded when a gunman opened fire on another vehicle Thursday afternoon in Paterson, authorities said. The 45-year-old victim was sitting in his car on Main Street near Broadway when shots rang out around noon, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora said. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his leg, responders said. The shooter was described as wearing a white T-shirt and army fatigues. Valdes and Baycora didn’t say whether any suspects had been arrested or identified.

Scooter Rider Critically Injured In Passaic Crash
An electric scooter rider was clinging to life Tuesday morning after being struck in Passaic, responders said. Witnesses said the late-30s victim ran a red light and was struck by a minivan at the intersection of President and Parker Streets shortly after 10:30 a.m. He was unconscious when taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, responders said. The driver, meanwhile, remained at the scene and cooperated with police, who notified the Passaic County prosecutor's fatal accident team. City firefighters and EMS also responded.

A 35-year-old woman was shot and killed minutes before seven other people were wounded at a large overnight gathering across town, authorities in Paterson said. Responding officers conducted CPR on Stephanie Caro after finding her outside her Butler Street home shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday, responders said. A 72-year-old Paterson man was charged with sexually assaulting two victims – one of whom recently turned 14 and another who’s now 43, authorities said. A driver was seriously injured in a horrific rollover crash off Route 80 in Paterson early Thursday evening.
