Pickup Crashes Through Route 17 Guardrail, Down Embankment
A driver and passenger escaped serious injury when their pickup truck crashed through a Route 17 guardrail and landed on its side down an embankment, responders said. It was just past the bus stop at the Sheridan Avenue exit on the southbound highway in Waldwick just past 2 a.m. Wednesday when the Chevy Silverado barreled through the rail and landed on its driver's side. HEROES: An unconscious 28-year-old driver from East Rutherford was revived by Waldwick police after overdosing and crashing his car into a median on Route 17, authorities said. It was moments after midnight when the crash occurred near Sheridan Avenue early Wednesday, March 22, Police Lt. Troy Seifert said. Sgt. A sedan flew over a guardrail on Route 17, sending its driver to the hospital. The 2013 BMW ended up in a wooded area just past a bus shelter on the southbound side near Sheridan Avenue in Waldwick shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, Police Lt. Troy Seifert said. Waldwick firefighters freed the 48-year-old driver from Newark, who suffered a suspected head injury, the lieutenant said. A 62-year-old motorcyclist from Glen Rock was hospitalized after crashing in Waldwick over the New Year's weekend, authorities said. There were no witnesses to the single-vehicle crash on Sheridan Avenue near Route 17 around 1 p.m. New Year's Day, Police Lt. Troy E. Seifert said. A 17-year-old driver escaped injury when her Jeep knocked down a traffic light and damaged a junction box in Waldwick, authorities said. The borough driver's vehicle came to rest in a wooded area off the corner of Sheridan Avenue and East Prospect Street at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, March 6, Police Chief Mark F. Messner said. Motorcyclist Injured In Route 17 Crash
A New York motorcyclist survived an overnight crash on Route 17 in Waldwick, authorities said. The 52-year-old Orange County resident from Middletown victim lost control of the motorcycle on the northbound highway just north of Sheridan Avenue shortly before 2 a.m., Police Chief Mark Messner said. “No other vehicles were involved and at that time and the conditions were clear and dry,” Messner said.
