High Winds Wreak Havoc In NJ Leaving Roads Closed, Hundreds Without Power
Wind gusts up to 50 mph were wreaking havoc across New Jersey on Friday, Aug. 9. As of 2:30 p.m., thousands of residents were without power and multiple roadways were closed due to downed wires and related crashes. The National Weather Service also issued a new tornado watch across North Jersey. An earlier watch for South Jersey and much of Pennsylvania has been lifted. Driver Hurt As Truck Strikes Tree In Hunterdon County
A truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital after crashing into a tree in Hunterdon County Thursday, August 3, authorities said. The crash occurred on Route 29 north of Stockton around 7 p.m., according to the Stockton Fire Company. Fiery Crash With Freightliner Claims Life Of Pickup Driver In South Jersey
The driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck died in a fiery crash on a state highway in South Jersey overnight, authorities said. The Freightliner M2 was heading south on Route 29 when it struck the back of a Chevrolet GMT-400 that was stopped in the right shoulder near milepost 0.6 in Hamilton Township around 12:45 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez said. Idling Trenton Patrol Cruiser Stolen, Totaled During High-Speed Pursuit, Police Say
A 30-year-old woman from Morris County allegedly stole an idling Trenton police cruiser, authorities said. Cherrelle Cooper of Morris Plains then was chased by law through Hopewell Township before being taken into custody. Trenton police said. At 5:41 p.m. Saturday, Cooper is accused of stealing an idle police cruiser parked on East State Street, police said. She then fled down Route 29 from to Hopewell Township, they said.
