A jury found Kyriakos Serghides, of Rockaway Borough, guilty of sexual assault, attempted kidnapping, luring, attempted sexual assault and two counts of child endangerment on Thursday, Feb. 10, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. The crash occurred at the intersection of Broad Street in Denville just before 2:20 p.m. Sunday, local police said. Route 46 was shut down in both directions between Route 80 westbound and East Main Street in Rockaway Borough for the ongoing investigation, police said. Bergen County Native, EMT Amy Baker 'Always Put Others First -- Even During Cancer Battle' Fair Lawn native Amy Baker died on Sept. 17 after a long and courageous cancer battle. She was 46 years old. Baker had been living in Rockaway Borough with her beloved husband, Harry III, and children, Melissa and Harry IV. "Her courage and strength were admired by all who knew her," Baker's obituary says. "She always put others first, even while battling her own illness." Baker worked as a human resources manager for the Parsippany-Troy Hills library until 2011. Previously, she worked with the Garfield and Saddle Brook Ambulance Corps. Interment was held at Beth-El Cemetery.

The 15-year-old boy was heading toward the McDonald's on the westbound side of the highway in Rockaway Borough when he was struck around 9:50 p.m., Police Sgt. Kyle Schwarzmann said. Rockaway Family Escapes Weekend Blaze A Rockaway family of five escaped a weekend fire that destroyed part of their house, township officials said. Two parents and three children were staying with a neighbor after a blaze that started in their Whitfield Court chimney spread into the attic Saturday evening, Councilman Tucker Kelley said. "The parents and their three children have received temporary housing and many of their belongings were saved as well," Kelley said.  Responders included firefighters from Rockaway Township, Rockaway Borough, Boonton, Denville, Kinnelon, Picatinny and West Milford.
