Rescue Of Clifton Firefighters From Passaic River
Freelance photographer Boyd A. Loving captured the drama Wednesday afternoon as two Clifton firefighters were plucked from the Passaic River by a New Jersey State Police chopper after they'd gone in to rescue a construction crew. The three-member crew was clearing trees and brush from the river when their boat got snagged at the top of the Dundee Dam, which has a 20-foot drop to a lower section of the river below. Man Hospitalized After Falling Into Lehigh Valley River, Police Say
Emergency crews came to the rescue of a man who fell into a Lehigh Valley river on Thursday, May 19, authorities said. Allentown Police responded to Adams Island and found the victim submerged in the river just after 7:15 p.m., Police Chief Charles Roca said. Officers Kayla Balatgek and Andrew Gehringer immediately entered the river and removed the man from the water, where EMS crews began performing CPR, Roca said. : Elmwood Park Police Chief Grabs Kayak, Rescues Woman, Child From Frigid Passaic River
Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno used a shovel and a borrowed kayak to pull a 2-year-old girl and her mother from the frigid Passaic River Thursday afternoon. Using the shovel to propel himself, Foligno pushed his way about 75 yards into the river, Detective Capt. Mark D'Amore said. Both the 37-year-old mother and her child were "were seconds away from going under" as he reached them, the captain said.
