Police: Fleeing Route 208 Driver Dumps Sports Car In Stranger's Driveway
A North Haledon driver was captured after he led Wyckoff police on a chase off Route 208, pulled into a driveway and bailed out, authorities said.
Arben Alimi, 52, was with other occupants of his Mustang when police found them walking on nearby Goffle Hill Road in Hawthorne, Police Lt. Joseph Soto said.
A short time earlier, Officer Kevin Oldewurtel tried to stop the speeding sports car on southbound Route 208, Soto said.
Alimi kept going, however, pulling off the highway and into a driveway on nearby Robertson Road, he said.

A Leonia motorist was intoxicated when his SUV mounted the sidewalk on Broad Avenue and struck an HMart, authorities charged.
Colum McQuaid, 63, was taken into custody after his 2019 Ford Escape came to rest between the end of the building and the traffic light stanchion off the corner off Fort Lee Road shortly after 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
McQuaid was charged with DWI, reckless driving, driving on the sidewalk and refusing to submit to a breath test, according to a police report.

A car thief broke his arm when he and an accomplice bailed out of a moving Jeep they’d just stolen from a Washington Township home, authorities said.
Responding to a citizen’s call, Officer Michael Sinatra and Corporal Vincent Santa arrived as the Jeep Wrangler left the area of West Place around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Police Chief Richard Skinner said.

Video: Haworth Nanny, Baby Stroller Struck By Hit-Run Van, Fleeing Rockland Driver Caught
A Haworth nanny and an infant she was pushing in a stroller were struck Wednesday by a van driven by a FedEx worker from Rockland who fled the scene, authorities said.
A police sergeant in neighboring Demarest stopped David Gutfeld, 56, of Airmont a short time later, Haworth Police Chief Michael Gracey said.
The child was OK, but the 55-year-old nanny had to be hospitalized, Gracey said, adding that the entire incident was captured on home security video.

DWI Driver Slams SUV Into Hackettstown Home, Prompts Evacuation, Police Say
A Maryland man was intoxicated when he crashed an SUV into a Hackettstown home, requiring the residents to evacuate due to the resulting gas leak, authorities said.
Elmer Geovanni Felipe Y Felipe, 29, was behind the wheel of a 2004 Honda CRV when he slammed into the side of a home on the 100 block of Willow Grove Street around 12:15 a.m. Sunday, Hackettstown Police said.
The impact caused damage to a furnace vent, two gas meters and the support post for the porch, police said.
