Mahwah PD: Amazon Delivery Impostor Comes To Resident's Door
Two of Mahwah’s finest nabbed a man who impersonated an Amazon employee in an attempt to collect a fraudulently ordered package, authorities said.
In doing so, they helped crack a series of thefts in at least three area towns, including Montvale and New Milford, Police Chief Stephen Jaffe said.
The Laurel Court resident held onto the box and called police, who captured the accused thief and his alleged getaway driver, both of whom are from Paterson, Jaffe said Thursday.

Huge Haul: South Hackensack PD Charges 29 With Fishing, Cashing $100,000 In Checks From Mail
Capping an enormous investigation involving dozens of victims, South Hackensack police busted 29 people who they said fished checks from a mailbox that they then cashed for upwards of $100,000.
Between August and last month, nearly 40 victims reported checks stolen, altered for larger amounts and cashed by members of the large-scale ring, Detective Capt. Robert Chinchar said Tuesday.
Nearly all of the checks -- which the victims wrote for utility bills, taxes, and mortgage payments -- were fished from a drive-through mailbox at the US Post Office on Huyler Street, the captain said.

Wayne Police Nab Teen Trio With Prescription Drugs Stolen From Resident's Vehicle
Wayne police busted three teens who they said were carrying generic Xanax stolen from a resident's car when they were stopped for a traffic violation Thursday afternoon.
Bill Mendez-Geraldino, 18, Engel Paulino-Gomez, 19, both of Passaic, and Michael Acosta-Granados, 18, of Paterson were released pending court appearances on charges of burglary, receiving stolen property, drug possession and conspiracy, Detective Capt. Dan Daly said.
