A tractor-trailer driver escaped injury when a load of wood shifted and his rig slammed into a signpost on northbound Route 17 near the state line in Mahwah. Mahwah police temporarily closed the highway in both directions following the crash where Route 17 meets Route 287 at the Mountainside Avenue overpass around 12:30 a.m. July 25. Firefighters Find Furry Friends At Ramsey House Blaze
Firefighters scooped up a trio of dogs during a townhouse blaze in Ramsey. The two-alarm fire ignited in the kitchen of a Windsor Lane home in the Bears Cove development just off Route 17 around 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5. It was quickly knocked down and placed under control. A driver was extricated by firefighters and hospitalized with serious injuries early Saturday after a large SUV slammed into a jewelry store in Ramsey's downtown business district. It was shortly before 7 a.m. May 13, when the Mercedes-Benz GLS smashed through the front of Apolo Jewelers, between Bici Restaurant and a Delta gas station at Main and Arch streets. A tractor-trailer tipped across the entire southbound side of Route 17 early Saturday, closing the highway coming down from Route 287. The rig ran up the grassy curb outside Jack Daniels Porsche in Upper Saddle River, took down a sign and pitched onto its side, leaving it lying across both shoulders and all three lanes, shortly before midnight April 29. The road remained closed while heavy-duty wreckers from Big Tows righted the rig. Firefighters Douse Attic Blaze In Ramsey
Firefighters doused an attic blaze at a Ramsey home early Thursday. No injuries were reported in the two-alarmer, which ignited at a home on narrow Lakeview Terrace just off Lake Street around 6:40 a.m. April 27. Firefighters had it quickly extinguished and under control by 7:30 a.m., sparing further fire damage. Mutual aid responders who reportedly were at the scene or in coverage included firefighters from Allendale, Mahwah and Wyckoff, along with members of Ramsey Rescue and borough police. Driver Freed, Hospitalized In Allendale T-Bone Crash
A driver was hospitalized after being extricated from an SUV following an afternoon rush-hour crash Monday in Allendale. Allendale firefighters and Ramsey Rescue personnel quickly freed the driver of the T-boned Nissan Rogue, which ended up on a lawn off the corner of busy Cottage Place and East Allendale Avenue -- a block from Franklin Turnpike -- around 4:30 p.m. Feb. 27. Injuries weren't considered life-threatening, responders said. Allendale police were investigating. No further information was immediately available. Boyd A. The driver of an SUV that slammed into a utility pole, downing wires across Route 17 in Ramsey before dawn Monday, claimed that he was cut off by a tractor-trailer driver who kept going, authorities said. The northbound highway was initially shutdown at East Allendale Avenue following the 1:30 a.m. crash at the QuickChek station. A driver was hospitalized after his BMW convertible slammed into a utility pole Saturday morning on Route 17 in front of a BMW dealership. "He's lucky to be alive," one responder said. A New York State driver escaped with minor injuries Tuesday in a Route 17 rollover in Ramsey, responders said. The Jeep Renegade landed on it side on the northbound side of the highway in front of Bottle King around 12:30 p.m. Extrication wasn't necessary, Police Chief Bryan Gurney said.
