Police Charge Local Handyman With $192,000 Heist From Downtown Ramsey Restaurant
As local heists go, the theft of a safe containing $192,000 from a restaurant in downtown Ramsey is pretty considerable.
Police said they didn’t have to go far to find it, either.
Craig Lannin, 57, a construction worker who’s lived in town all his life, stole it on Nov. 28 while working at Bici, a modern Italian restaurant on East Main Street, Ramsey Police Detective Jaclyn Sabatelli said.
Lannin, who records show had prior arrests, lives a mile and a half due north of downtown.
Police charged him with theft and criminal mischief and released him pending court action.

Naked, Agitated Route 17 Motel Guest Trashes Room, Seized By SWAT
A naked, agitated Route 17 motel guest was quickly seized by a Bergen County Regional SWAT team on Monday after he trashed his room, authorities said.
The 46-year-old man, originally from Paramus, appeared in the throes of what looked like "excited delirium" when Upper Saddle River police were called to the Fair Motel at 12:47 p.m. April 17, responders said.
The man was outside the room, naked and bleeding, when responders arrived and then immediately ran inside and barricaded the door, Upper Saddle River Police Detective Capt. Edward Kane said.

A 96-year-old Upper Saddle River woman and a 77-year-old driver were killed in a single-vehicle crash on Route 17 in Ramsey on Tuesday, authorities said.
Ethel Toth was a passenger in a 2009 Jeep Cherokee driven by George Sadue, 77, of Coventry, Rhode Island, that left the northbound highway and hit a tree on the property of an Exxon station around 2:30 p.m. Nov. 29, Ramsey Police Chief Brian Lyman said.
Toth was killed on impact, Lyman said.

Assailant Stabs Woman In Ramsey, Turns Knife On Himself, Drives To Rockland Hospital: Police
A manhunt ended when a man who'd stabbed a woman at a home in Ramsey turned the knife on himself before driving to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern for treatment, authorities said.
The victim was taken to the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood before being transferred to the trauma unit at Hackensack University Medical Center following the assault on Swan Street, just off southbound Route 17, around 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, Ramsey Police Chief Brian Lyman said.

Man Who Lives Near Park Ridge Town Pool Charged With Producing Child Porn
A divorced, unemployed man who lives up the street from the Park Ridge Municipal Pool was arrested Wednesday and charged with producing online child porn, authorities said.
Richard Osinski, 61, “used the Internet to view, download, and possess more than 1,000 digital files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children,” Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
Osinski, of Colony Avenue, was also “coordinating the production of sexually explicit online depictions of children,” the prosecutor said.
