This Morris County District Just Gave Students Their First Snow Day Of The Year
A Morris County district became the first in the area to announce students would have a snow day Thursday. Students in Madison will have an early dismissal Wednesday afternoon and a day off on Thursday, district officials said. Classes will be remote on Friday for staff and students, the district said. Many districts are already remote and plan on continuing classes regardless of the snow, while other are factoring in outages and giving students work to do at home, or possibly a snow day. Totowa and Holmdel public schools announced early dismissals for Wednesday.

A Jackson Memorial High School student tested COVID-19 positive. The case was reported less than a week after the reopening of public schools for the first time in six months, according to APP.com. "There is nothing you need to do at this time," said Principal Kevin DiEugenio , who urged students to wash their hands often and practice social distancing. Parents will be informed if their child is considered a “close contact” of the student who tested positive. Going back to school in September will look much different for New Jersey students, who have been remotely learning since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic mid-March. The New Jersey Department of Education on Friday released guidance for reopening of schools for the 2020-21 school year.
