Route 80 Pursuit Through Morris County Turns Up Handgun, Nets Three Arrests: Police
Three people were arrested after a vehicle pursuit ended with the discovery of a handgun on the early morning of Saturday, Feb. 10, Mountain Lakes Police said. At 3:12 a.m., police were notified the Boonton Police Department was involved in a motor vehicle pursuit, Mountain Lakes Police said on Facebook. After police in Boonton terminated the pursuit, the suspect vehicle was involved in a crash on Route 80 in Parsippany, police said. Parsippany Family Loses Everything In Fire: Fundraiser
The Parsippany community is rallying around the Sheehan family after they lost everything in a house fire on the early morning of Saturday, Jan. 20, according to a fundraiser. At 4:30 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to Stafford Terrace for a report of a garage fire, the Parsippany Troy-Hills Fire District 6 said on Facebook. New Forecast: Increased Snowfall Totals Expected, Arctic Temps To Follow Northeast Storm
Newly-released forecast maps show parts of the region could see up to six inches of snow in the end-of-week storm. Intermittent snow is expected to begin between 4 and 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with the heaviest amounts falling in the afternoon, the National Weather Service said. Snow will fall at about 0.5 inches per hour and will taper by the evening, with temps in the upper 20s and low 30s, the NWS said. Roxbury Fatal Fire Update
A 98-year-old woman was killed and a 71-year-old man hospitalized with serious injuries as a fire raced through and collapsed a Morris County home on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 19. The Roxbury Police and Fire Departments responded to the blaze at a home on Mooney Road in Ledgewood around 1 p.m. and found the man had escaped with severe injuries. The National Weather Service has released rainfall totals from the weekend storm. Between Sunday morning, Dec. 10 and Monday morning, Dec. 11, the area that got the most amount of rain was Deerfield with 4.45 inches, then Flemington/Hopewell, with 4.29 inches. Franklin Lakes saw 4.09 inches, the NWS says. Flanders only got .13 inches, and Florham Park only had .38 inches of rain. A 21-year-old West Orange man was busted in a car stolen out of Newark in Parsippany this week, police said. A Rita Drive resident told Parsippany police they saw a dark sedan drop off a person dressed in all black around 6:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, and begin pulling on car door handles trying to get in, local police said. Motorcyclist Killed In Route 280 Crash
A 44-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Route 280 in Parsippany overnight on Friday, Oct. 27, state police confirmed. Jason M. Otero was riding a Harley Davidson eastbound when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, hit a concrete barrier, and overturned near milepost 0.5 in Parsippany-Troy Hills shortly before 1:15 a.m., New Jersey State Police Detective I Jeffrey Lebron told Daily Voice. Otero, of Livingston, was killed in the crash, Lebron said. The accident remains under investigation. No further details were released.
