Fort Lee police converged on a group of teenage out-of-towners – three of them from Newark – moments after they burglarized an unlocked vehicle before dawn Thursday, authorities said. Sgt. David G. Tropea spotted the fleeing suspects in a white sedan at the intersection of Palisade Avenue and Bridle Way shortly after 4:30 a.m., Capt. Edward Young said. A fleeing shoplifter was struck and injured running across Route 4 in River Edge, authorities said. Jaime Rojas, a 35-year-old repeat offender from Bloomfield, was standing at the bus shelter on the westbound side of the highway around 5:45 p.m. Thursday when police investigating a shoplifting at the nearby CVS spotted him, River Edge Police Chief Michael Walker said. A Clifton teen who stole vehicles that their owners left running was busted by police – then went right back to it after he was released, authorities said. A Little Ferry homeowner who awoke to find a burglar in his bedroom seized the intruder and held him for police, authorities said. The 32-year-old victim told police he awoke around 6 a.m. Sunday to find Joshua Purvis, 21, in the bedroom of his Kaufman Avenue home, Police Chief James Walters said.
