Roxbury Fatal Fire Update A 98-year-old woman was killed and a 71-year-old man hospitalized with serious injuries as a fire raced through and collapsed a Morris County home on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 19. The Roxbury Police and Fire Departments responded to the blaze at a home on Mooney Road in Ledgewood around 1 p.m. and found the man had escaped with severe injuries. Woman, 77, Fatally Struck By SUV In Morris County A 77-year-old woman was struck and killed by an SUV Tuesday evening in Morris County, authorities said Wednesday. The unidentified woman was hit by a 2019 Honda HRV near West Randolph Avenue in Mine Hill just after 6:45 p.m., Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Wharton Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit also participated in the ongoing investigation, Knapp said.

Mine Hill Driver With Suspended License Admits Having Heroin, Giving Police Bogus ID A suspended driver from Mine Hill admitted that he had heroin in his car and gave police a bogus identity when he was stopped. Michael Collette, 33, pleaded guilty to drug possession, hindering his arrest and driving while suspended in Newton on Thursday as part of a plea deal with prosecutors, Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch said. Andover police arrested Collette after stopping him for a minor traffic offense Dec. 14, Koch said. Superior Court Judge Thomas J. Critchley Jr. scheduled sentencing for March 22.
