A Toms River woman admitted to her role in the death of her roommate, a former Manchester High School janitor, authorities said. Mary Carbone, 60, pleaded guilty on Monday, July 8 to aggravated manslaughter, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. She was previously indicted for murder in the death of 55-year-old Frank Stochel of Toms River. Police issued 131 tickets to trespassers found on boats and ATVs at a private property along the Jersey Shore popularized on TikTok. Lightning Strike Fire Engulfs Jersey Shore Home
UPDATE: A lightning strike Wednesday ignited a fire that destroyed a Jersey Shore home and killed several pets. Two cats, a bird and several reptiles died in the Beckerville Road fire, which broke out in the 1½-story ranch house shortly before 3 p.m., Manchester Township police said. Responders included firefighters from Whiting, Manchester, Ridgeway, Forked River, Lakehurst, Cassville and Whitesville, as well as Manchester Township EMS and police. No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross found temporary lodging and provided supplies to the family.

Prosecutor: Woman, 56, Killed Former Manchester HS Janitor Using Shower Rod, Tape Dispenser
An Ocean County woman killed a former Manchester High School custodian she lived with using a shower rod and a tape dispenser, authorities charged. Mary Carbone, 56, was charged with murder in the slaying of 55-year-old Frank Stochel at a home they shared in Manchester, they said.
