One person was hospitalized in cardiac arrest after a car plummeted into the water in Sussex County, authorities said. The Byram Township Fire Department responded to the report of a car in the water near Amity Road and found multiple occupants attempting to escape around 3:10 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, the squad said. One of the occupants made their way to shore before going into cardiac arrest, prompting crew members to administer CPR as the remaining occupants were safely brought to shore. Victim Rescued, Hospitalized After Jet Ski Goes Up In Flames, Explodes On Lake Hopatcong
A jet skier was rescued and hospitalized after the vessel went up in flames and exploded on Lake Hopatcong Sunday night, authorities said. Hopatcong Police responded to the Byram Cove area of the lake and worked alongside the NJSP Marine Unit to rescue the victim around 7:20 p.m., Lt. Michael O’Shea told Daily Voice. Dog Attacked By Rabies-Positive Raccoon In Sussex County
Police in Sussex County have issued a warning to pet owners after a dog was attacked by a rabies-positive raccoon. The dog was attacked on Reading Road in Hopatcong April 21, and the raccoon tested positive for the virus April 29, the local police department said on Facebook. Animals with rabies often appear sick or lethargic, may have difficulty swallowing and salivate excessively, police said. Kimberly Fiorillo of Hopatcong heard the crash. But by the time she got outside, it was too late. The Lawrie Avenue resident saw a white Lexus SUV turning off of her street around 7:25 p.m. on Sept. 18 -- and then saw the front-end damage done to her brand new 2019 Toyota Camry.
