Morris County Man, 36, Charged With Aggravated Sexual Assault Of Teen Victim: Police
A 36-year-old Morris County man was jailed on accusations involving the sexual assault of a teen victim, authorities said.
Melquiades Porfirio, of East Hanover, was charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a victim between 13 and 16 years old, three counts of aggravated criminal sexual contact, and second-degree child endangerment, Hanover Police said in a press release on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
Porfirio was taken into custody on Friday, Sept. 9 following an in-depth investigation into a report of the sexual assault of a minor, police said.

Man Spends Thousands On Credit Card Stolen From Morris County Hotel Lobby, Police Say
A 69-year-old man spent thousands of dollars on a credit card he picked up in the lobby of a Morris County hotel, authorities said.
Officers responding to a theft report at the Sonesta Select Hotel on Route 10 in Whippany found that Daniel Bergeron, of Convent Station, picked up another guest’s credit card on Thursday, June 9, Hanover Police said in a release on Friday, June 24.
Bergeron then used the credit card to make purchases totaling $2,490.95, police said.
He was later found to be in possession of the stolen card, authorities said.

A Morris County man who deliberately struck a woman with his car during an argument at a local pizza shop was charged with assault by auto and several other offenses, authorities said.
Oscar Trejo Cardona, 25, was charged with assault by auto, operating a vehicle without a license causing serious bodily injury, endangerment, failure to report an accident, careless driving, reckless driving, driving without a license, and leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, Hanover Police said in a release on Friday, June 24.

A man from New York had inhaled toxic fumes before harassing others and throwing furniture around at a Morris County McDonald’s restaurant, authorities said.
Jose Santos Lovos, of Yonkers, is accused of getting into an altercation with another man at the Morris County Mall’s McDonald’s restaurant on Tuesday, Jan. 25, Hanover Police said in a Tuesday, Feb. 15 release.
Lovos, 49, was seen throwing furniture around the restaurant while cursing and yelling at the man, according to police.
A follow-up investigation found that Lovos had inhaled toxic fumes prior to the incident, police said.

Scam ALERT: Men Used Counterfeit $100 Bills At Several NJ Gas Stations, Police Say
Two men have been charged after allegedly using counterfeit bills at several gas stations throughout the Garden State, authorities said Friday.
Mohammad Kamara, 30, of Newark, and Tonney Manyango, 29, of Sayreville, are accused of asking for $3.00 worth of gas at QuickChek in Cedar Knolls, paying with a counterfeit $100 bill, and asking for change for a second counterfeit $100 bill on Jan. 4, Hanover Police said.
A follow-up investigation found that several other convenience stores throughout New Jersey had recently experienced a similar scam between Jan. 4 and Jan. 6, authorities said.

Morris County Man, 37, Charged With Sexual Assault
A Morris County man has been charged with sexual assault in connection with a 2019 incident, authorities said.
Samuel Kennedy, 37, was processed April 16 on a second-degree charge following a “detailed and thorough” investigation into an assault that was originally reported Jan. 26, 2019, Hanover Police said.
Kennedy, of Morristown, was served at the Morris County Correctional Facility, where he was already being held on unrelated charges, police said.
He is scheduled to appear virtually before Judge Taylor on May 24, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

Two men including one arrested for an armed robbery have been charged with using drugs to force a woman into prostitution for more than month in North Jersey, authorities said.
