Callahan's Elusive Paramus Opening Taken Too Far Or Creating Buzz?
The Callahan's owner's handling of an elusive new location is leaving a bad taste in some customers' mouths. Others, including Dan DeMiglio himself, say he's just creating buzz. DeMiglio — whose grandfather Leonard "Artie" Castranni founded the original Callahan's in Fort Lee — has confirmed a new location is in the works. This week, he said it will be in Paramus. But DeMiglio has yet to divulge an exact address or opening date, much to the chagrin of longtime patrons. To some, it's irritating. To DeMiglio, it's all in good fun. "I've been doing the same thing I've been doing in all of m…

Beloved Bogota Bagel Man Dies
He was deeply woven into the community's fabric, so it's with deep sadness that folks are learning that Thomas Walsh died at the bagel shop in Bogota where he'd worked for as long as most could remember. Walsh, 80, of Cliffside Park kept things hummin' at Boxcar Bagels. The general manager regularly arrived hours before sunrise so that those still asleep would have a pleasant start to their days, thanks to fluffy, jumbo-sized bagels that became the trademark of the shop in front of the train tracks. It was around 4 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, in fact, when borough police were called to the R…

NYC Cab Driver Turned 'Falafel King' Expands To Bergen County

Zeideia took matters into his own hands in April 2002 and opened Best Falafel & Shawarma. It wasn't long before Zeideia became the go-to guy for thousands in search of quality Middle Eastern street food.
