‘Not A Game:’ Radio Stolen From Hunterdon Rescue Squad, Thief Interfering With Dispatch Center
A Hunterdon County emergency squad is desperately seeking answers after a radio was stolen from the scene of a rescue effort over the weekend. Members of the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad were working in Stockton to save three victims stuck in storm waters Saturday night when an unknown person stole one of their radios, the team said. Meanwhile, the thief has been using the radio to contact the Hunterdon County Communications 911 Dispatch Center and causing distractions and transmission interruptions in a “malicious manner,” the squad said. Rescuers Free Driver In Paramus Minivan Crash
A driver was extricated after her minivan rolled in a crash at a busy Paramus intersection Thursday afternoon. Borough firefighters and members of the police Emergency Services Unit teamed up to free the driver following the multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Paramus Road and West Ridgewood Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. The Paramus Volunteer Ambulance Squad took her to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with injuries that weren't considered serious. Developing: Man Pinned Under Box Truck In Warren County Airlifted With Severe Injuries
A man was airlifted with serious injuries after getting trapped underneath a box truck at a Warren County maintenance shop Thursday morning, according to initial and unconfirmed reports. The man became pinned under the truck at the Blair Academy maintenance shop on Park Street in Blairstown shortly after 10:40 a.m., initial reports say. The man was removed from underneath the truck, treated at the scene and airlifted to a local hospital with a severe leg injury, the report said. Hillsborough Man Crushed To Death By Lawnmower
A 74-year-old Hillsborough man was crushed to death by a commercial lawnmower the weekend, authorities said. Police found John Levinski under the machine on the 400 block of Township Line and not breathing after neighbors called 911 just before 5 p.m., Hillsborough police said. The mower had been hoisted in the air by a cable that was attached to a Kubota tractor when the cable broke and the mower fell on Levinski, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident has been ruled accidental in nature.

A fire destroyed the parish house of a historic Long Branch church, injured one firefighter and displaced five residents Easter Sunday. Flames erupted on the first floor of the Broadway facility -- originally the First Reformed Church of Long Branch -- and spread to the second level, NJ.com reports. A Bergen County man was charged with stealing nearly $100,000 from the Essex County emergency rescue squad that he presided over, authorities said. Jonathan Arredondo stole more than $75,000 from various Nutley Emergency and Rescue Squad accounts and ran up more than $30,000 in personal finances, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N.
