Gunman Arrested In 'Friendly Fire' North Jersey Murder: Prosecutor
The alleged gunman involved in last month’s “friendly fire” North Jersey murder has been arrested, authorities announced Monday.
Darneill Thomas, 22, was arrested in Danville, Virginia, and charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said.

Crackdown Busts 6 With Illegal Weapons Last Weekend In Newark: Police
Six Newark residents were busted with illegal weapons over the weekend as part of a city crackdown that began last December.
Four of those arrests were in the South Ward and two were in the East Ward, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said.
The following men were arrested Saturday, April 2 in the South Ward, according to O'Hara:
Alfuquan A. McNair, 29, of Washington, NJ; Elijah Harden, 31, of East Orange; and a 17-year-old male from Irvington. Each suspect faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon, among other charges.

A Newark man has been convicted of charges in connection with a crime spree and crash that killed a 29-year-old mom and EMT in 2018, authorities announced.

A jury found a former East Orange deli worker guilty for slitting the throat of his former boss and letting him bleed to death on the bathroom floor of the shop, authorities announced.
Roberto Ubiera, 58, of Newark, previously worked as an employee at the the neighborhood grocery store on North Park Street in East Orange that his victim, 55-year-old Tarlok Singh managed, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said.

Speeding Driver Had Ecstasy Pills, Powder During Route 78 Traffic Stop, Police Say
A driver stopped for speeding on Route 78 early Wednesday was found with both ecstasy pills and powder, authorities said.
Donald Thomas, 37, was stopped for speeding on Route 78 in Readington Township around 1:50 a.m., local police said.
Thomas, of East Orange, was found with several ecstasy pills and a bag of suspected crushed ecstacy, police said.
Thomas was charged with drug possession and issued summonses for speeding, maintenance of lamps, driving while suspended, and drug possession in a motor vehicle, authorities said.
