Drunk Driver Drove Wrong Way: Byram Township PD
A 60-year-old Hopatcog woman was arrested and charged on the early morning of Monday, Oct. 13 with drunk driving after she drove the wrong way on a one-way street, authorities said. At 2:16 a.m., officers spotted a silver Jeep traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 206 near Acorn Street, Byram Township police said in a release. Husband Charged In NJ Crash That Killed Wife, Prosecutor Says
Two drivers including the husband of a woman killed were found at fault in the Route 9 crash last month in Old Bridge, authorities said. Benjamin Futerman, 32, of Manalapan, and Wilson Familia, 22, of Old Bridge, have both been charged in the June 2 crash on Route 9 at Ferry Road that left Kristina Godich dead and several others injured, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Old Bridge Police Chief Thomas J. NJ Student Drivers Need More Practice Hours Under New Law
A new law will require student drivers in New Jersey to spend more time learning behind the wheel before they can get a license. Gov. Phil Murphy signed a bill on Monday, Jan. 8, that requires student drivers 21 years old and under to spend at least 50 practice hours with an adult. The law also requires at least ten hours to be completed at night. Parents or other adults must certify the practice driving hours were completed. Authorities: Paterson Lawman Nabs Fleeing Armed Driver
A Paterson police detective nabbed a driver carrying a loaded stolen handgun, authorities said. Detective Sgt. Anthony Castronova stopped Octavius Bolds, 35, on Presidential Boulevard for recklessly driving a Jeep Cherokee with an expired registration in the area of Bridge and River streets around 2 a.m. Sunday, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said. Cliffside Park PD: Hudson Ex-Con With 49-Arrest History Captured After Fleeing Stolen Car Crash
Cliffside Park police chased down a Jersey City ex-con with a rap sheet nearly 50 arrests long after he crashed a stolen car and bailed out, authorities said. Lester Williams, 54, was speeding south on Anderson Avenue in the 2015 Honda Accord late Saturday when he saw a police car and hit the brake, rapidly slowing down, Deputy Police Chief Vincent Capano said.
