A tractor-trailer hauling garbage tipped over a median on Route 17 Friday morning at what police and commuters say has become an all-too-frequent site for such crashes near the New York State border. UPDATE: Northbound Route 17 in Mahwah was reopened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday following a wild tractor-trailer crash earlier in the day. Only one lane of the southbound highway was open during the evening rush. The driver of a van that crashed on a Route 46 overpass on Wednesday was taken to the hospital in police custody, authorities said. Frankie Harrison, 63, was charged with DWI and careless driving after the 11:45 a.m. June 7 rollover on the westbound highway near the exit ramp for southbound Route 17, Hasbrouck Heights Police Lt. Bridges Along I-78 In Bedminster, Bridgewater To Be Replaced
The state Department of Transportation has begun work on replacing four bridges on I-78 in Bridgewater and Bedminster, a project that will take place in stages over the next three years in order to minimize traffic disruption, the agency said in a statement.
