A fast-acting Jersey Shore police officer smashed a window of a car to rescue a child accidentally locked inside by his mother, and then offered to cover the costs of a replacement window. Island Heights Patrolman Mellott saw the frantic mom outside of her vehicle on River Avenue, saying she had just secured her child in to a car seat but accidentally locked her keys inside the vehicle on July 12. Cash fell from his pockets as a robber ran from a Hackensack 7-Eleven before dawn one recent morning. Police caught him in the McDonald’s parking lot across the street with help from some civilians. Crimestoppers awarded a $500 check to a city couple and their young son for assisting. Sussex Neighbors Run Out To Assist With Hot Air Balloon's Unexpected Backyard Landing
Several Sussex residents ran outside to assist a hot air balloon that made an unexpected backyard landing. Occupant Nindra Nadal detailed the incident on Facebook saying the 8:30 a.m. Sunday landing was a safe one and thanked neighbors "who came out and assist and laugh and cheered with us for one our most exciting time of our lives.
