Detectives investigating a rash of business break-ins in several Bergen County towns didn't have far to look: The spree ended with the arrest of a career burglar from Passaic with a history of similar behavior.
Ex-con Nicolas Torres, 39, has a criminal record stretching back more than 15 years, mostly for burglarizing businesses, records show.
A few years ago, he was charged with breaking into several real estate and doctors’ office in Maywood, Fort Lee, Oradell, and Westwood, as well as in Middlesex County.

A warehouse worker from Hackensack suspected of dealing drugs was busted with a handgun and a high-capacity magazine, as well as pot and Oxycodone packaged for sale, city police said.
John O. Oguje Jr., 25, was charged with various drug and weapons charges following a raid on his apartment Thursday, Feb. 10, as part of an investigation by Detective Michael Reo, Detective Capt. Michael Antista said.
Narcotics Bureau detectives found Oguje conducting business while investigating complaints of drug dealing next to a local park and school, Antista said.

Teaneck Woman Assumes Dead Brother's ID To Get $20G In Social Security, Authorities Charge
A home health care worker from Teaneck assumed her dead brother’s identity to collect more than $20,000 in Social Security disability money, authorities charged.
Wanda Lynn Sermon, 55, “failed to notify the Social Security Administration of her brother’s death and instead assumed control of his bank account,” Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said Wednesday.
For the next 16 months, Musella said, Sermon “continued to access Social Security disability benefit funds intended for [him],” pocketing $20,438 in the process.
