Trio With Serious Burns Charged In Fireworks Explosion On NJ Lake
Adding insult to injury, three people who were burned in an illegal fireworks explosion on a New Jersey lake are facing charges.
Adam J. Perentin, 22, of Ogdensburg; Justin A. Pretot, 28, of Byram Township; and Jessica M. Whittam, 23, of Byram Township; were rescued from Lake Mohawk on Monday, July 3, after setting off commercial-grade fireworks that engulfed a homemade barge around 9:40 p.m., police in Byram Township said.

Sussex County Native, Mother Of 2 Rachael Lynch Dies, 34
Sussex County native and mother of two Rachael Lauren Lynch died Dec. 11 at her home. She was 34.
Born in Livingston, Lynch grew up in Byram Township, her obituary says.
She attended Lenape Valley Regional High School, according to her Facebook page.
Lynch was known for her fierce passion for motherhood and her two daughters, Annabelle and Madison, her obit says.
She loved arts and crafts, shopping, reading, baking and spending time with her family.

Police: DWI Sussex County Man Nearly Crashes Into Officer, Fails To Maintain Lane On Route 206
A Sussex County man was drunk when he nearly crashed into a police cruiser last week, authorities said.
Anthony Scudilla, of Hopatcong, was traveling on Route 206 in Byram Township when he failed to maintain his lane and nearly hit a police cruiser on Friday, Sept. 25, police said.
The Byram patrol officer stopped Scudilla and saw an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, police said.
Scudilla, who police say appeared to be intoxicated, was then asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to police.

DWI Underage Sussex County Driver Crashes, Police Charge
An underage Sussex County man was intoxicated when he crashed his car in Byram Township, authorities said.
Officers in Byram responded to a report of a crash on Sleepy Hollow Road on Monday, July 20, where the driver -- Steven G. Rabe, of Byram -- appeared to be intoxicated, police said.
Rabe was asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests, which police say he did not pass.
He was placed under arrest and taken to a neighboring police department, where he failed two breath tests, authorities said.

A 72-year-old Sussex County woman suffered hip and back injuries, and chipped a tooth, when a local ShopRite employee lost control of carts that slammed into her, a lawsuit alleges.
Joy Prunty, 72, was waiting in the checkout line at the Byram Township store on Route 206 when a worker hit her hip with a "stack of wheeled shopping basket carts" on July 20, 2018, the suit alleges, according to NJ.com.
Prunty, of Stanhope, experienced substantial pain in her hip and back as a result of the incident, even causing her to clench her jaw to the point where she chipped a tooth, the suit says. …
