Rescuers who responded to a report of a jumper shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday got help from a tug boat operator after the body was spotted in the Kill Van Kull just east of the bridge, Deputy Fire Chief Bill Bartos said. Police Officer Cory Pilzer was on the bridge walkway with his family this past Sunday when he spotted the 22-year-old man starting to climb the suicide prevention fence, the NYPD said. Pilzer bolted toward the despondent man, jumped and yanked him down by the waistband. Woman Jumps To Death From Bayonne Bridge A woman jumped to her death Wednesday morning from the Bayonne Bridge, Port Authority police confirmed. The woman stopped her vehicle on the bridge, got out and jumped into the Kill van Kull around 9:30 a.m., responders said. Harbor units from the NYPD and FDNY joined Port Authority police at Elm Park on Staten Island, where the body was brought. Man, 28, Killed In Bayonne Bridge Crash, Another Seriously Hurt A man died Monday night after the vehicle he was traveling in struck a divider on the New Jersey side of the Bayonne Bridge, authorities said.  Port Authority police said the crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. near the Kennedy Boulevard exit. Both people in the vehicle were taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where the driver died, police said. Another person suffered serious injuries.  The person who was killed has been identified as Tarig Sigler, 28, of New York.  This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

Cashless Tolls Coming To GWB, Lincoln & Holland Tunnels In 2021 Getting across the Hudson River is about to get even EZ-er. The Port Authority is set to approve contracts for the construction of cashless tolling equipment at the George Washington Bridge, and Lincoln and Holland tunnels, ABC reports. The new system will likely be up and running in 2021. The tunnels have $60 million budgeted for each with $89 million for the George Washington Bridge. Eighty-eight percent of drivers already use an EZ Pass to pay tolls, Port Authority said. Port Authority introduced cashless tolling to the Bayonne Bridge in 2017, and to Outerbridge Crossing this year.

Outerbridge Crossing Rolling Out Cashless Tolls April 24 The Outerbridge Crossing connecting Staten Island to Perth Amboy will introduce cashless tolls beginning April 24, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced Tuesday.  The new tolls will allow those with EZ Pass accounts to pay tolls without stopping their vehicles.
