Firefighter Hurt Battling Massive Strip Mall Blaze In Parsippany: Developing
A firefighter was hurt while battling a third-alarm strip mall blaze in Parsippany overnight Tuesday. The fire broke out at Green Hill Plaza on Parsippany Road around 12:45 a.m., according to the Parsippany Police Department. An advanced life support ambulance was called to the scene after part of the building collapsed and a firefighter was injured, initial and unconfirmed reports said. The Parsippany community is coming together to aid the Elvin family, who have been staying in a hotel since their home was destroyed by a fire. More than $8,900 had been raised for the Allentown Road home family as of Saturday evening on a GoFundMe launched by teen William Elvin's teacher, Michael Iapicca. The family is in need of large and extra-large women's clothing and large clothing for men. Teen, Sibling Escape Parsippany House Fire
A teenager and a a younger sibling called 911 after a fire broke out at their Parsippany home, ultimately displacing the family, authorities said. The two were on the second floor of the Allentown Road home when they smelled smoke just before fire alarms went off around 5:40 p.m. Thursday, Parsippany police said. The pair was able to get out uninjured as heavy smoke billowed from the kitchen window, authorities said. The children told officers their cat may still be inside.
