Passenger Airlifted In Route 80 Crash (Update)

One person suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash that closed Route 80 Monday afternoon, Oct. 2.

A Hyundai SUV was heading west on the highway when a Ford traveling on the on ramp from Route 206 south around 4:30 p.m. in Mount Olive, NJSP Sgt. Charles Marchan said.

The Hyundai struck the curb on the right shoulder, traveled over a concrete median and struck the Ford.

The Ford was redirected off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail on impact, and the Hyundai overturned and impacted a guardrail off the right shoulder. A passenger in the Hyundai suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

The crash was under investigation.
