A man later identified as Tyler R. Negron was seen by a Walmart worker only scanning some items at a self-checkout station on May 16, Hanover Police Chief Mark D. Roddy said.
When the employee asked to see his receipt, 21-year-old Negron punched him in the face and fled with the stolen items, Roddy said.
Authorities identified Negron using surveillance footage, and arrested him at his home on May 21, authorities said.
Negron was lodged at Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.
